Marti Gelabertó old maps collection is made up of the 181 original maps and views of the sixteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries donated by the collector Mr. Martí Gelabertó to the UAB Map Library. Most of the collection is composed of maps of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries of Catalonia and Spain. Other geographical areas are also represented. The maps are divided into two groups. On the one hand, plans of fortified cities, drawn by French cartographers during the War of the Spanish Succession; on the other hand, maps of Catalonia and Spain made by leading cartographers of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The main and almost unique geographical area for the views is Catalonia. As with the maps, the views of the different Catalan cities represented are the work of French cartographers. As a whole, the collection offers a broad view of the cartographic representation of Catalonia for 200 years. You can find it at the following link: Martí Gelabertó old maps collection |
