Resumen: The article highlights the connections and formal influences, officially nonexistent, between architecture developed in North Korea and in other, socialist or capitalist countries. The regime, generally closed to external exchange, promoted the creation of juche architectural style, traditional and modern although based on the imported neoclassicism of Soviet socialist realism. The further development of this architecture, national in form and socialist in content included the simplification of form and decoration and augmenting spectacularity of structures and materials, in order to approach the international style and create an exportable architecture.
