A principal fonte primária deste artigo é o Epitoma rei militaris, escrito pelo alto burocrata Flávio Végecio em fins do século IV, no Império Romano. O texto é marcado por um contexto cultural sincrético: o cristianismo, religiao de Estado professada pelo autor, e elementos pagaos provenientes dos vários textos militares clássicos que citou. Nesse sentido, este trabalho mostra como é rico em informaçoes sobre as transformaçoes militares, políticas e religiosas do mundo romano do século IV. A pesquisa acompanhou tendencias recentes da História Militar, destacando por fim e sensibilidade religiosa escapada de Vegécio em trechos nos quais propos e retomada dos antigos padroes mlitares de disciplina e treinamento dos legionários. Esse estudo foi essencial na averiguaçao da viabilidade das reformas sugeridas e como a pressao bárbara manifestava-se no ocidente latino. |

The main source of information in this article is the Epitoma rei militaris written by Flavius Vegetius, a very important bureaucrat from end of the IV Century A. D. The text is marked by a complex culture involving Christianity (the religion of the State) and pagan elements originated from various military documents. Judging by all information's about them politic, military and religious transformations around the world at the century mentioned I can tell how rich this work is. Following previous tendency of Military History the research found in the end religious sensibility from Vegetius when he suggested change of discipline and training for the legionary. This study became pressure manifested in Roman western. |
