Abstract: Nowadays obesity represents a big problem around the world. It can be an esthetic problem for the patient and represents the 7% annual health expenditure in Spain. It is the 6th principal risk factor of death, and each year it kills around 3. 4 million adults. So, it is a medical problem, physical and psychological, from which we must find a solution. We will review conventional techniques that attempt to eradicate obesity and investigate how adaptive thermogenesis can be a solution to this problem. We will study the properties and potential benefits of brown adipose tissue (BAT) and beige, applied to obesity and we will remember that there is no better solution than prevention.
