Resumen:	Este artículo reflexiona sobre las previsibles tendencias en los derechos de la infancia en el siglo XXI. El artículo parte de una valoración de la vigencia en los últimos veinte años de la Convención de los Derechos de la Infancia ratificada por la práctica totalidad de los estados Miembros de Naciones Unidas en 1989. En este apartado se destacan las grandes aportacions que ha supuesto la existencia de la Convención desde un punto de vista normativo y de aplicación de políticas de infancia y al mismo tiempo se señalan los grandes retos pendientes en este terreno para este nuevo siglo. En los aparatados siguiente el trabajo explora cuatro grandes áreas de desarrollo efectivo de la Convención en las que debe claramente avanzarse. En primer lugar se destaca la garantía del interés superior del menor como principio fundamental no plenamente desarrollado. La protección de la infancia más vulnerable, y en especial la de los niños y niñas tutelados por el Estado, constituye la segunda tarea pendiente de mejora. En tercer lugar el artículo aborda la garantía de los derechos de provisión, como la salud o la educación, mientras que en cuarto y último lugar se centra en el desarrollo efectivo del derecho de la infancia a la participación. Los retos planteados exigen una determinación clara de los gobiernos para hacerles frente y el establecimiento de los mecanismos de rendición de cuentas necesarios para que éstos respondan a esta exigencia.
Resumen:	The author makes a reflection about the predictable trends in the rights of the infancy in the 21st century. He departs from a valuation of the force in the last twenty years of the Convention of the Rights of the Infancy ratified by the practical totality of member states of United Nations in 1989. In this paragraph are outlined the big contributions that the existence of the Convention has supposed from a normative point of view and of application of policies of infancy and at the same time the big hanging challenges distinguish themselves in this area for this new century. In the following paragraphs the work explores four big areas of effective development of the Convention in those who have to be advanced clearly. First is outlined the guarantee of the top interest of the minor as fundamental not fullly developed beginning. The protection of the most vulnerable infancy constitutes the second task dependent on improvement. Thirdly the article approaches the guarantee of the rights of provision, as the health or the education, whereas in fourth and last place it centres on the effective development of the right of the infancy to the participation. The raised challenges demand a clear determination of the governments to face them and the establishment of the necessary mechanisms of account surrender in order that these answer to this exigency.
