Abstract:	Estudio del "Salterio y Libro de Horas" conservado en la British Library que perteneció al rey Alfonso el Magnánimo y que fue encargado por uno de sus confesores: el cardenal Joan de Casanova. El libro se confeccionó en Valencia y su ilustración la realizó uno de los miniaturistas más reputados del "gótico internacional": Lleonard Crespí. Estaba concluido en 1443 y se envió a Nápoles, donde residía por entonces el monarca. Tanto en la composición, como en la rica ilustración del códice, se advierte la tutela del promotor, miembro de la orden dominica. Asimismo, una gran abundancia de rasgos vernáculos valencianos. El encargo de un manuscrito de este género con destino al rey, por parte de un eclesiástico de brillante cursus honorum, pudo haber tenido algo que ver con una hipotética promoción del personaje hacia responsabilidades mayores dentro de la Iglesia. No olvidemos que llegó a ser uno de los candidatos papables del monarca.
Abstract:	A study of the Book of Hours in the British Library belonging to King Alfonso the Magnanimous and commissioned by one of his confessors, Cardinal Joan de Casanova. The book was created in Valencia and illustrated by Lleonard Crespi, one of the most famous miniaturists of the International Gothic style. Completed in 1443, the manuscript was sent to the king in Naples. The compostion, richness of the illustrations and abundance of vernacular Valencian traits reveal the hand of its promotor, a member of the Dominican Order. The fact that the king was the recipient of a manuscript of this type and it was commissioned by an ecclesiastic with a brilliant cursus honorum may have had to do with a hypothetical promotion of this clergyman toward greater positions of responsibility within the church. It should not be forgotten that he was one of the king's candidates for the office of pope.
