La presencia de Rubió i Bellver en Mallorca fue fundamental, no sólo para el desarrollo del modernismo en la isla, sino también para la trayectoria profesional del arquitecto catalán. La Església Nova de Son Servera es uno de los tantos proyectos que Rubió dejó en la isla y que debió entender como parte de una iniciativa más global, acaudillada por el obispo Campins y el vicario general Alcover, y cuyo principal objetivo era dotar de un nuevo perfil cultural a la isla semejante al catalán y coincidente en su base nacionalista. Rubió opta por una planimetría propia del gótico de la zona y la revisa por una contemporaneidad heredada, en gran medida, de su maestro, Antoni Gaudí. La Església Nova de Son Servera resulta excepcional, entre otros motivos, por el ingente material de archivo que se conserva y que nos permite recuperar la historia de su construcción prácticamente en su totalidad. |
| Abstract: |
The presence of the Catalan architect Rubió i Bellver in Majorca was fundamental not only for the development of Modernism on the island, but also for his professional career. The Església Nova of Son Servera is one of the many projects that Rubió left on the island which must be understood as part of a more global initiative, led by the Bishop Campins and the Vicar General Alcover, whose principal aim was to provide the island with a new cultural profile similar to that of Catalonia and coincidental with its nationalistic base. Rubió chose the Gothic of the area and reviewed it by a contemporaneousness inherited, to a larget extent, from his teacher, Antoni Gaudí. The Església Nova de Son Servera is exceptional, among other reasons, for the enormous amount of documentation that remains and that allows us to recover the history of the construction practically in its entirety. |
