Nuevas identidades en formación El rápido aumento en Japón de trabajadores provenientes de América Latina ha llamado la atención de numerosos investigadores. Este movimiento migratorio, conocido como “fenómeno dekasegui”, ha convertido la comunidad latinoamericana en la tercera minoría más numerosa del país. Aquí se analiza la experiencia migratoria de los dekasegui desde un punto de vista narrativo, a través de testimonios orales de trabajadores latinos de larga estancia en Japón. Se pone de relieve la multiplicidad de los testimonios personales, eclipsada a menudo por la presencia de una narrativa dominante, así como la importancia de la negociación de identidades en el proceso de establecimiento de las comunidades latinoamericanas. The rapid growth of foreign labourers from Latin America in Japan has called the attention of many scholars. Due to this migrant flow, known as “dekasegi phenomenon”, the Latin American community has become the third largest minority in the country. This paper aims to provide a narrative analysis of the migrant experience through oral testimonies from Latino workers who have been staying long term in Japan. The multiplicity of personal testimonies, which are often eclipsed by the presence of a dominant narrative, as well as the importance of the negotiation of identities in the process of settlement of Latin American communities are stressed in the paper.
