Infinity, nihilism and nomadism : three paradoxes on postmodern society Cuando supuestamente lo infinito, Dios, debería ser desbancado en nombre de lo finito, el Hombre, resurge la idea griega de infinito como aquello indeterminado, la cosmogonía sin la figura de Creador. El infinito es al mismo tiempo totalidad y nada, presencia y ausencia, y esa referencia a la ausencia lo une con el nihilismo característico de la Postmodernidad. Ésta representa el triunfo de la conciencia desdichada, de la nada del hombre frente a Dios, justamente cuando se proponía desechar todo dualismo. Los habitantes de la sociedad postmoderna son, en consecuencia, nómadas ya que el dualismo ha dado aparentemente paso al pluralismo. Pero dudamos de que ese nomadismo sea real. Even though the Infinite (God) was thought to be displaced by the Finite (the Human being), the greek idea about the infinite, the cosmogony without the Creator´s figure, has reemerged. The infinite is both the Whole and the Nothingness, the Presence and the Absence, and just this reference to the Absence links it to the nihilism common in posmodernist world. That one represents the triumph of the “unfortunate consciousness”, the Nothingness of human that overcomes God, just while every dualism was to be rejected. Thus, inhabitants of postmodernist society are nomads, because pluralism has aparently followed dualism. But it is not an authentic nomadism.
