The cultural impact of this tree is of high interest for research in Linguistics and in Phraseology. In this article we have analyzed the cultural symbolism underlying the names of olive types used by farmers in different regions in Spain; we have studied and highlighted the metaphorical and the figurative meaning of 42 names of olive varieties in Spain. En este artículo se estudia y analiza el campo nocional del olivo en español. El impacto cultural de este árbol es de gran interés tanto para la investigación lingüística como para la investigación fraseológica. En este artículo se ha analizado el simbolismo cultural subyacente en los términos utilizados por los agricultores de distintos puntos de la geografía española para referirse a diferentes variedades de olivos, en concreto se han estudiado los significados figurativos y metafóricos de 42 nombres de variedades del olivo en España.
