13 p, 7.4 MB Top-down structures of mafic enclaves within the Valle Fértil magmatic complex (Early Ordovician, San Juan, Argentina) / Castro Dorado, Antonio (Universidad de Huelva. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra) ; Martino, Roberto Donato (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Departamento de Geología) ; Vujovich, Graciela (Universidad de Buenos Aires. Departamento de Geología) ; Otamendi, Juan Enrique (Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto. Departamento de Geología) ; Pinotti, Lucio Pedro (Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto. Departamento de Geología) ; D'Eramo, Fabiana (Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto. Departamento de Geología) ; Tibaldi, Alejandro (Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto. Departamento de Geología) ; Viñao, Aldana (Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto. Departamento de Geología)
Magmatic structures related to the mechanical interaction between mafic magmas and granitoids have been studied in the Valle Fértil calc-alkaline igneous complex, Argentina. Excepcional outcrops with vertical walls of more than 300 m high allow us the study of three-dimensional geometries of individual blobs of mafic magma as well as the geometry of pipe-like structures in which mafic microgranular enclaves are concentrated in more than 50 times the normal abundance in the granodiorite mass. 19 p, 5.0 MB (Plio-)Pleistocene alluvial-lacustrine basin infill evolution in a strike-slip active zone (Northern Andes, Western-Central Cordilleras, Colombia) / Suter, Fiore (University of Geneva.Department of Geology-Paleontology) ; Neuwerth, Ralph (University of Geneva.Department of Geology-Paleontology) ; Gorin, Georges (University of Geneva.Department of Geology-Paleontology) ; Guzmán, Carlos (University of Caldas. Department of Geological Sciences)
The (Plio)-Pleistocene Zarzal Formation was deposited in the Cauca Depression and Quindío-Risaralda Basin between the Western and Central Cordilleras (Northern Andes). This area is structurally located on the transcurrent Romeral Fault System (RFS). [...]

First record of upraised Pleistocene marine deposits in Isla Navarino (Beagle Channel, Southern Chile) / Rabassa, Jorge (Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia San Juan Bosco) ; Gordillo, Sandra (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba) ; Ocampo, Carlos (Ciprés Consultores Ltda. and Fundación Wulaia) ; Rivas Hurtado, Pilar (Ciprés Consultores Ltda. and Fundación Wulaia) ; Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Argentina)
Marine beach shell deposits recording a pre-Holocene marine transgression have been found at the southern shore of the Beagle Channel, Isla Navarino, Chile. These shelly deposits were dated by AMS at 41,700 14C years B. [...]

8 p, 543.7 KB Detrital pyroxenes in the Eocene flysch of the Istrian Basin (Slovenia, Croatia) / Lenaz, Davide (Università degli Studi di Trieste)
For the first time, few detrital augite and pigeonite crystals have been found in the Eocene flysch basins of Istria (Trieste-Koper basin; Italy, Slovenia, Croatia) and Krk Island (Croatia). Their chemistry suggests that they are related to subalkaline rocks (within-plate tholeiites) crystallized at a pressure between 0 and 5 kbar. [...]

Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo) ; Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Argentina). Centro de Investigaciones Geológicas
The Triassic successions of western Argentina commonly show thin pyroclastic levels intercalated within thick fluvial and lacustrine terrigenous deposits. The Potrerillos Formation is the thickest Triassic unit in the Cuyo Basin. [...]

Department of Biology, Fanar Matn) ; Nel, André (Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle)
The first insect from the Wealden amber of the Isle of Wight (early Barremian) is formally described. Dungeyella gavini n. gen. , n. sp. (Diptera: Chironomidae) is a tiny buchonomyiine/podonomian with specialised wing venation and probably lived in an araucarian riparian woodland with seasonal resin production. [...]
