22 p, 3.0 MB Paleogene evolution of the External Betic Zone and geodynamic implications / Guerrera, F. (Università degli Studi di Urbino "Carlo Bo". Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra, della Vita e dell'Ambiente) ; Mancheño, M. A. (Universidad de Murcia. Departamento de Química Agrícola, Geología y Edafología) ; Martín-Martín, M. (Universitat d'Alacant. Departament de Ciències de la Terra i del Medi Ambient) ; Raffaelli, G. (Università degli Studi di Urbino "Carlo Bo". Dipartimento di Scienze della Terra, della Vita e dell'Ambiente) ; Rodríguez-Estrella, T. (Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. Departamento de Ingeniería Minera y Civil) ; Serrano, F. (Universidad de Málaga. Departamento de Ecología y Geología)
Interdisciplinary studies combining field data (geological and tectonic mapping, lithostratigraphic reconstructions, lithofacies characterization, correlations and sampling) and laboratory analyses (biostratigraphy, chronostratigraphy, clay mineralogy and sandstone petrography) of eight Senonian-Paleogene successions from the Sierra de La Pila and Sierra de El Carche areas (Murcia province, SE Spain) belonging to the External Betic Zone are presented. 15 p, 8.3 MB Reverse magnetic anomaly controlled by Permian Igneous rocks in the Iberian Chain (N Spain) / Calvín, nP. (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra) ; Casas, A. M., (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra) ; Villalaín, J. J. (Universidad de Burgos. Departamento de Física) ; Tierz, P. (Universidad de Zaragoza. Departamento de Ciencias de la Tierra)
Two important reverse dipolar magnetic anomalies in the Iberian Chain (Spain) are located over Permian igneous rocks. A detailed study of one of them, the Loscos magnetic anomaly, where the geological structure is well constrained, reveals that the source of the anomaly must be a reverse remanent magnetisation carried by igneous rocks, acquired during the period of the Kiaman reverse magnetic superchron. 10 p, 1.9 MB U-Pb zircon SHRIMP evidence for Cambrian volcanism in the Schistose Domain within the Galicia-Trás-os-Montes Zone (Variscan Orogen, NW Iberian Peninsula) / Farias Arquer, Pedro (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Ordoñez-Casado, B. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Marcos, A. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Rubio-Ordoñez, A. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Fanning, C. M. (Australian National University. Research School of Earth Sciences)
SHRIMP U-Pb zircon analyses have shown the complexity of dating volcanic rocks due to the presence of inner cores within zircon crystals. Using the cathodoluminescence studies assisting ion microprobe analyses allow as to conclude that: the two low-grade metavolcanic samples from the Schistose Domain of the Galicia-Trás-os-Montes Zone in the northeast limb of the Verín-Bragança synform (NW Spain and NE Portugal) yield ages of 488. 8 p, 1.5 MB A new combined quasigeoid model in Tierra del Fuego / Gómez, M. E. (Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Departamento de Astrometría) ; Cogliano, Daniel del (Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Departamento de Astrometría) ; Perdomo, Raúl (Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Departamento de Astrometría) ; Hormaechea, José Luis (Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Departamento de Astrometría)
This work focuses on the development of a combined quasigeoid model for Tierra del Fuego province. The Equivalent Source Technique (EST) is applied together with the remove-compute-restore technique in order to combine gravity and GPS/levelling observations and to obtain a quasigeoid model. [...]

13 p, 1.4 MB Clypeina tibanai, sp. nov. (Polyphysacea, Dasycladales, Chlorophyta), mid-Cretaceous green alga from the Potiguar Basin, Brazilian margin of the young South Atlantic Ocean / Granier, B. (The University of Kansas. Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology) ; Dias-Brito, D. (Universidade Estadual Paulista. Center for Geosciences Applied to Petroleum) ; Bucur, I. I. (Babeş-Bolyai University, Department of Geology and Center for Integrated Geological Studies)
The fossil genus Clypeina (Michelin, 1845) comprises some 40 species. We describe Clypeina tibanai, a new species from upper Albian-Cenomanian strata of the Potiguar, Brazil, characterised by closely set verticils of tubular, bended laterals. [...]

Late Carboniferous colonial corals from the Moscovian Saginaw Bay Formation and the underlying Bashkirian crinoidal limestone exposed on northeastern Kuiu Island and a nearby islet, part of the Alexander terrane in southeastern Alaska, are described and illustrated for the first time, and are supplemented by revision, re-description and re-illustration of most Atokan specimens from Brooks Range, northern Alaska, first described by Armstrong (1972).
