38 p, 1.8 MB An updated biostratigraphy for the late Aragonian and Vallesian of the Vallès-Penedès Basin (Catalonia) / Casanovas i Vilar, Isaac (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Garcés Crespo, Miguel (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Dinàmica de la Terra i de l'Oceà) ; Van Dam, J. (Utrecht University. Department of Earth Sciences) ; García-Paredes, Israel (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) ; Robles Gimenez, Josep Maria (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Alba, David M.. (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont)
The Vallès-Penedès Basin (Catalonia, Spain) is a classical area for the study of the Miocene land mammal faunas and comprises one of densest and most continuous records in Eurasia. Furthermore, it is the type area for the Vallesian European land mammal age. [...]

22 p, 1.5 MB Genesis and petrology of Late Neoproterozoic pegmatites and aplites associated with the Taba metamorphic complex in southern Sinai, Egypt / Abdelfadil, K. M. (Sohag University. Geology Department) ; Asimow, P. D. (California Institute of Technology. Division of Geological & Planetary Sciences) ; Azer, Mokhles K (California Institute of Technology. Division of Geological & Planetary Sciences) ; Gahlan, H. A. (King Saud University. Department of Geology and Geophysics)
We present new field, petrographical, mineralogical and geochemical data from late Neoproterozoic pegmatites and aplites in southern Sinai, Egypt, at the northernmost limit of the Arabian-Nubian Shield. [...]

32 p, 2.8 MB Late Neoproterozoic layered mafic intrusion of arc-affinity in the Arabian-Nubian Shield : a case study from the Shahira layered mafic intrusion, southern Sinai, Egypt / Azer, Mokhles K (National Research Center (Egipte). GeologicalSciences Department) ; Obeid, M. A. (Fayoum University. Geological Department) ; Gahlan, H. A. (King Saud University. Department of Geology and Geophysics)
The Shahira Layered Mafic Intrusion (SLMI), which belongs to the late Neoproterozoic plutonic rocks of the Arabian-Nubian Shield, is the largest layered mafic intrusion in southern Sinai. Field relations indicate that it is younger than the surrounding metamorphic rocks and older han the post-orogenic granites. [...]

22 p, 12.8 MB Orthophragminids with new axial thickening structures from the Bartonian of the Indian subcontinent / Özcan, E. (Istanbul Technical University. Department of Geological Engineering) ; Kumar Saraswati, P. (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Department of Earth Sciences) ; Hanif, M. (University of Peshawar. National Centre of Excellence in Geology) ; Ali, N. (University of Peshawar. Department of Geology)
The 'axial thickening', a morphological character of certain Eocene orthophragminids refers to the thickening of the equatorial and/or lateral layers in axial directions forming radial external structures, namely the ribs. [...]

17 p, 2.6 MB Holocene palaeoecological changes recorded in mollusc-bearing cave sediments, the Cave above the Słupska Gate (southern Poland) / Szymanek, M. (University of Warsaw. Faculty of Geology) ; Krajcarz, M. (Polish Academy of Sciences. Institute of Geological Sicences) ; Krajcarz, M. T. (Polish Academy of Sciences. Institute of Geological Sicences) ; Alexandrowicz, W. P. (AGH University of Science and Technology. Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environment Protection)
The Cave above the Słupska Gate (southern Poland) contains about 2m depth of mollusc-bearing deposits. Radiocarbon and archaeological dating indicate that these deposits accumulated during the Holocene (Preboreal to Subatlantic), although the earliest layers may date from the end of the Pleistocene. [...]

18 p, 2.6 MB New constraints on the origin of the ophiolitic rocks within sinorogenic turbiditic sequences at Cilento region (southern Italy) / Mazzeo, F. C. (Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II.
Mafic igneous rocks (pillow lavas and gabbros) embedded as olistoliths within Miocene turbiditic sequences crop out in the Cilento area at the Mount Centaurino (Campania region, Southern Italy). The concentration of major oxides, as well as trace element ratios (Nb/Yb, Nb/Ta, Th/Nb) and the chondrite-normalized Rare Earth Elements (REE) patterns suggest a tholeiitic character with Mid Oceanic Ridge Basalts (MORB) affinity. [...]

19 p, 8.8 MB Selandian-Thanetian larger foraminifera from the lower Jafnayn Formation in the Sayq area (eastern Oman Mountains) / Serra-Kiel, Josep (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines) ; Vicedo Vicedo, Vicent (Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona) ; Razin, Ph. (Université Bordeaux III) ; Grélaud, C. (Université Bordeaux III)
The larger foraminifera of the lower part of the Jafnayn Formation outcropping in the Wadi Sayq, in the Paleocene series of the eastern Oman Mountains, have been studied and described in detail. The analysis have allowed us to develop a detailed systematic description of each taxa, constraining their biostratigraphic distribution and defining the associated foraminifera assemblages. [...]
