Són les creences les que ens menen (atesos uns desitjos determinats) a actuar, i com que aquestes poden ser falses, els nostres intents de vegades es veuen -per aquesta raó- frustrats: les nostres accions no assoleixen l'èxit. Beliefs lead to action and are manifested in action. We act according to what we believe, and not always do our beliefs constitute knowledge. It is beliefs that lead us (given certain desires) to act, and as these may be false, our attempts are sometimes (for this reason) frustrated: our actions do not succeed. [...]

El término efecto hot hand ('fenómeno de estar en racha') hace referencia a un hipotético aumento del rendimiento tras el encadenamiento de varios ensayos acertados. Se identifican tres tipos de investigaciones en contextos deportivos: (1) centradas en la (in)existencia de rachas, (2) en los mecanismos psicológicos de la creencia humana en las rachas y (3) en las posibles consecuencias conductuales provocadas por la creencia. The hot hand phenomenom (also known as hot hat effect or streaks) refers to a hypothetical performance increase after chaining several trials successfully. Three types of research are identified in sports contexts: (1) focused on the (in) existence of streaks, (2) on the psychological mechanisms of human belief in streaks and (3) on possible behavioral consequences caused by belief in streaks. La raonabilitat dels enunciats religiosos

Aquest article sosté: a) que hi ha enunciats religiosos pròpiament dits, que poden ser considerats un cas particular d'enunciats metafísics; b) que és la categoria de «raonabilitat» (i no la de «racionalitat» ni la d'«irracionalitat») la que permet fer una aproximació al seu estatut epistemològic, i c) que, en la mesura que són objecte de creença, la pregunta sobre la seva raonabilitat és també, al capdavall, la pregunta sobre la naturalesa de la creença i sobre la relació entre creure i pensar.
This paper argues: a) that there are religious statements in a proper sense, and they can be considered as a particular case of metaphysical statements; b) that the category of «reasonableness» (and not those of «rationality» and «irrationality») allows for an aproximation of their epistemological status, and c) that, inasmuch as they are objects of belief, questioning their reasonableness is also ultimately questioning the nature of belief and the relationship between believing and thinking.
