23 p, 1.7 MB Paleogeographic inversion resulting from large out of sequence breaching thrusts: The León Fault (Cantabrian Zone, NW Iberia). A new picture of the external Variscan Thrust Belt in the Ibero-Armorican Arc / Alosno, J. L. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Marcos, A. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Suárez, A. (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España)
Out of sequence breaching thrusts may give rise to duplication of a former thrust stack in map view in the same manner that stratigraphic units are repeated by initial thrusts. In this way, large breaching thrusts may put an inicial paleogeographic pattern out of order, producing apparent paleogeographic inversions at regional scale. [...]

23 p, 18.0 MB Earliest Pragian (Early Devonian) corals and stromatoporoids from reefal settings in the Cantabrian Zone (N Spain) / Fernández-Martínez, E. (University of Léon. Faculty of Biology and Environmental Sciences) ; Fernández, L. P. (University of Oviedo. Department of Geology) ; Méndez-Bedia, I. (University of Oviedo. Department of Geology) ; Soto, F. (University of Oviedo. Department of Geology) ; Mistiaen, B. (Université Catholique de Lille. Laboratoire de Paléontologie stratigraphique)
The oldest reefal episode in the Cantabrian Zone (earliest Pragian) consists of small biostromal patch reefs, mainly built by corals and stromatoporoids, and developed on a storm-dominated ramp. Four outcrops provide the stratigraphic framework in which these reef facies developed, and these permitted an interpretation of their depositional setting in terms of a relatively distal or protected shelf.
