15 p, 5.4 MB Upper Barremian−lower Aptian charophyte biostratigraphy from Arrifes section (Algarve Basin, Southern Portugal): correlation with dinoflagellate cyst biostratigraphy / Pérez-Cano, Jordi (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Pereira, Hélder J.R. (University of Coimbra. Centre for Earth and Space Research) ; Mendes, Márcia (National Laboratory of Energy and Geology) ; Pereira, Zélia (National Laboratory of Energy and Geology) ; Callapez, Pedro Miguel (University of Coimbra. Centre for Earth and Space Research) ; Fernandes, Paulo (University of Algarve. Centre of Marine and Environmental Research)
The Arrifes section (Algarve Basin, Southern Portugal) has been studied from the viewpoint of charophyte biostratigraphy. The previous sedimentological studies in this section showed that it is built of the interbedding of continental and marine facies that contain both marine and continental palynomorphs (pollen, spores, and dinoflagellates), providing an excellent sedimentary context to perform direct correlations between marine and continental domains. [...]

76 p, 12.8 MB Palaeoecology of Middle Miocene charophytes from the Vallès‒Penedès and Vilanova basins (Catalonia, Spain) / Sanjuan, Josep (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Dinàmica de la Terra i de l'Oceà) ; Matamoros, Damià ; Casanovas i Vilar, Isaac (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Vicente, Alba (Universitat de Barcelona. Department of Geography) ; Martín-Closas, Carles (Universitat de Barcelona. Institut de Recerca de la Biodiversitat (IRBio))
A diverse charophyte assemblage from the Middle Miocene of the Vallès‒Penedès and Vilanova basins (Catalonia, NE Spain) is here described and illustrated for the first time. This flora has been recovered from three localities: els Casots (Subirats), Vilobí del Penedès, and Mas de l'Alonso‒el Pi Gros (Vilanova i La Geltrú). [...]

14 p, 2.2 MB Revision of the Maastrichtian-Palaeocene charophyte biostratigraphy of the Fontllonga reference section (southern Pyrenees, Catalonia, Spain) / Vicente, Alba (Universitat de Barcelona.
The Fontllonga section is one of the best-known stratigraphic sections wordwide for the study of charophyte biostratigraphy of the Maastrichtian and lower Palaeocene. An updated proposal for the charophyte biostratigraphy of this section is presented after summarizing previous knowledge. [...]

14 p, 3.4 MB Stratigraphy and biostratigraphy (charophytes) of the marine-terrestrial transition in the Upper Eocene of the NE Ebro Basin (Catalonia, Spain) / Sanjuan, J. (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines) ; Martín-Closas, Carles (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines) ; Serra-Kiel, Josep (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines) ; Gallardo, H. (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines)
The onset of endorheic sedimentation in the Ebro Basin is a prominent feature of the basin's evolution and has recently been characterized as a rapid event occurring in the Early Priabonian. In the north-eastern part of the basin this event coincides with the deposition of the Artés Formation (Fm. [...]
