16 p, 406.0 KB Subcompositional coherence and and a novel proportionality index of parts / Egozcue, Juan José (Universidad Politecnica de Catalunya. Departament d'Enginyeria Civil i Ambiental) ; Pawlowsky-Glahn, Vera (Universitat de Girona. Departament d'Informàtica, Matemàtica Aplicada y Estadística)
Research in compositional data analysis was motivated by spurious (Pearson) correlation. Spurious results are due to semantic incoherence, but the question of ways to relate parts in a statistically consistent way remains open. [...]

Departament de Ciència Animal i dels Aliments) ; Martínez-Castillero, María (Instituto Agroalimentario de Aragón) ; Rosas, Juan Pablo (INGA FOOD. Programa de Mejora Genética "Castúa") ; Varona, Luis (Instituto Agroalimentario de Aragón)
INGA FOOD S. A. , as a Spanish company that produces and commercializes fattened pigs, has produced a hybrid Iberian sow called CASTÚA by crossing the Retinto and Entrepelado varieties. The selection of the parental populations is based on selection criteria calculated from purebred information, under the assumption that the genetic correlation between purebred and crossbred performance is high; however, these correlations can be less than one because of a GxE interaction or the presence of non-additive genetic effects. Institut de Neurociències) ; Gimenez-Llort, Lydia (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Institut de Neurociències)
Modeling of Alzheimer's disease (AD), classically focused on the subject-environment interaction, foresees current social neuroscience efforts as improving the predictive validity of new strategies. Here we studied social functioning among congeners in 13-14-month-old mice with normal aging in naturalistic and experimental conditions and depicted behavioral signatures of dysfunction in age-matched 3xTg-AD mice. En el presente trabajo se examina la segregación por género que existe en el profesorado en España durante el periodo 2004-2014. Para ello, en la introducción se justifica la importancia de la igualdad de género en las organizaciones. [...]
In this paper we examine gender segregation in the teaching profession in Spain between 2004 and 2014. With this in mind, the introduction justifies the importance of gender equality in organisations. [...]

Both the dominance and the mass ratio hypotheses predict that plant internal nutrient cycling in ecosystems is determined by the dominant species within plant communities. We tested this hypothesis under conditions of extreme drought by assessing plant nutrient (N, P and K) uptake and resorption in response to experimentally imposed precipitation reductions in two semiarid grasslands of northern China. [...]
This article explores the way in which on post-revolutionary Mexico, cultural products and popular songs in particular, disseminated an idealized version of romantic love and gender roles. The two elements are key components of a sentimental education policy directed to women, in order to build the necessary consensus to support male dominance, based on the promise of self realization through heterosexual love, marriage and motherhood.

Background: the growing wealth of knowledge on whole-plant genome sequences is highlighting the key role of transposable elements (TEs) in plant evolution, as a driver of drastic changes in genome size and as a source of an important number of new coding and regulatory sequences. [...]

207 p, 3.0 MB A sociophonetic analysis of the production of mid-vowel contrasts in Catalan spoken in Barcelona / Kotsoni, Zoi ; Recasens, Daniel, 1954-, dir.
The present research deals with language variation and presumably change from the theoretical perspective of apparent-time studies. It aims to explore the retainment or merging of the Catalan mid-front and mid-back vowel contrasts, and whether merging is complete or yields a near-merging scenario, based on the production of mid-vowels by bilinguals with a stronger command of Catalan (Catalan-dominant) as well as by bilinguals with a stronger command of Spanish (Spanish-dominant), all residents of Barcelona, Spain. In this paper we contrast different perspectives to the measurement of multidimensional poverty. Using data from 38 Demographic and Health Surveys around the developing world, we have compared the performance of two broad approaches: multidimensional poverty indices and first order dominance techniques (FOD).
