Ciertamente, In ictu oculi está en perfecta sintonía con el edificio que lo acoge (el Hospital de la Caridad de Sevilla), el espacio en que se exhibe (el sotocoro de la Iglesia de dicha institución religiosa) y el cuadro gemelo que lo acompaña (Finis Gloriae Mundi, del propio Valdés Leal).
