13 p, 9.7 MB Rudist reef structure : Insights from orientation of hippuritids at l'Espà (Campanian, southern Pyrenees) / Boix, C. (Universidad de Alcalá. Departamento de Geología) ; Vicens, Enric (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Riera, V. (Centro de Estudios y Experimentación de Obras Públicas) ; Oms, O (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia)
Rudist were common Mesozoic reef builders, but rare examples exist to evaluate reef structure. The l'Espà locality (southern Pyrenees) is approached to study rudist reef structure by a quantitative assessment of the individuals' position (growing vs reworked) and its sedimentary context. [...]

29 p, 17.9 MB Interplay of Multiple Sediment Routing Systems Revealed by Combined Sandstone Petrography and Heavy Mineral Analysis (HMA) in the South Pyrenean Foreland Basin / Coll, Xavier (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Roigé, Marta (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Gómez-Gras, David (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Teixell Cácharo, Antonio (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Boya, Salvador (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia) ; Mestres i Andreu, Narcís (Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona)
Combined sandstone petrography and heavy mineral analysis allow to decipher different sediment routing systems that could not be resolved by one method alone in the South Pyrenean foreland basin. We apply this approach to deltaic and alluvial deposits of the southern part of the Jaca basin, and in the time equivalent systems of the nearby Ainsa and Ebro basins, in order to unravel the evolution of source areas and the fluvial drainage from the Eocene to the Miocene. 23 p, 5.1 MB Depositional style and tectonostratigraphic evolution of El Bierzo Tertiary sub-basin (Pyrenean orogen, NW Spain) / Heredia, Nemesio (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España) ; Fernández, L. P. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología) ; Martínez-González, F. (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Área de Geología) ; Bahamonde, J. R. (Universidad de Oviedo. Departamento de Geología)
El Bierzo Tertiary sub-basin (Oligocene-Miocene, NW Spain) is a small remnant of the western Duero Basin, a nonmarine broken foreland basin developed in front of the Cantabrian Mountains (Pyrenean orogen). [...]

10 p, 1.3 MB Palynology of the Iscayachi Formation (Cambro-Ordovician) from the Cordillera Oriental of Southern Bolivia : New data from the western margin of Gondwana / Vergel, M. M. (Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (Argentina). Instituto Superior de Correlación Geológica) ; Aceñolaza, G. F. (Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (Argentina). Instituto Superior de Correlación Geológica) ; Aráoz, L. (Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (Argentina). Instituto Superior de Correlación Geológica)
The first late-Cambrian aged palynomorph assemblage of Bolivia is presented. The sampled material comes from the Cambro-Ordovician Iscayachi Formation cropping out in the Antenna of the Sierra de Sama, Tarija department, southern Bolivia. [...]

18 p, 4.5 MB Architectural characterization of a delta-front reservoir analogue combining Ground Penetrating Radar and Electrical Resistivity Tomography : Roda Sandstone (Lower Eocene, Graus-Tremp basin, Spain) / Coll, Miquel (Universitat de Barcelona. Institut de Recerca Geomodels) ; López-Blanco, M. (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines) ; Queralt, Pilar (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Geodinàmica i Geofísica) ; Ledo, Juan José (Universitat de Barcelona. Institut de Recerca Geomodels) ; Marcuello, A. (Universitat de Barcelona. Institut de Recerca Geomodels) ; Universitat de Barcelona. Facultat de Geologia
Three-dimensional reconstruction of reservoir analogues can be improved combining data from different geophysical methods. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) data are valuable tools, since they provide subsurface information from internal architecture and facies distribution of sedimentary rock bodies, enabling the upgrading of depositional models and heterogeneity reconstruction.
