14 p, 2.5 MB Clay minerals formed during propylitic alteration of a granite and their influence on primary porosity : A multi-scale approach / Cassiaux, M. (University of Poitiers) ; Proust, D. (University of Poitiers) ; Siitari-Kauppi, M. (University of Helsinki) ; Sardini, P. (University of Poitiers) ; Leutsch, Y. (ANDRA)
The porosity of a propylitized granite from Charroux (France), with no fractures or sealed fractures, inreases by more than four times from the unaltered (0. 3%) to the altered rock (1. 4%). This evolution results from several local porosity modifications which occur at different scales in the rock: (1) at the core scale, from 10 to 10 m, where rock porosity changes as a function of rock-forming mineralogical composition; (2) at the mineral scale, from 10 to 10 m, where porosity depends both on the nature of the rock-forming mineral and its clay mineral alteration. 19 p, 3.0 MB The occurrence and origin of the söǧüt kaolinite deposits in the paleozoic saricakaya granite-granodiorite complexes and overlying neogene sediments (Bilecik, Northwestern Turkey) / Kadir, Selahattín (Eskişehir Osmangazi University. Department of Geological Engineering) ; Kart, Fírdevs (Eskişehir Osmangazi University. Department of Geological Engineering)
The Soǧut kaolinite deposits at Çalti{dotless}, İnhisar, and Küre, Turkey, are an important source of raw materials for the ceramics industry of that country, but no detailed mineralogical or geochemical characterizations of these economically important materials have been carried out to date. [...]

19 p, 5.2 MB Petrography and geochemistry of late- to post-Variscan vaugnerite series rocks and calc-alkaline lamprophyres within a cordierite-bearing monzogranite (the Sierra Bermeja Pluton, southern Iberian Massif) / Errandonea, Jon (Universidad del País Vasco. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Sarrionandia Eguidazu, Fernando (Universidad del País Vasco. Departamento de Geología) ; Carracedo-Sánchez, Manuel (Department of Mineralogy and Petrology, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU)) ; Gil Ibarguchi, José Ignacio (Universidad del País Vasco. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Eguiluz Alarcón, Luis (Universidad del País Vasco. Departamento de Geología)
The Sierra Bermeja Pluton (southern Central Iberian Zone, Iberian Massif) is a late-Variscan intrusive constituted by cordierite-bearing peraluminous monzogranites. Detailed field mapping has allowed to disclose the presence of several NE-SW trending longitudinal composite bodies, formed by either aphanitic or phaneritic mesocratic rocks. [...]

14 p, 5.2 MB Late Variscan, Permo-Carboniferous, Al-K plutonism in the South Portuguese Zone : El Crispinejo cordierite-bearing granite / Diéz-Montes, Alejandro (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España) ; Valverde-Vaquero, P. (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España) ; Rey-Moral, C. (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España) ; Sánchez-García, T. (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España)
The El Crispinejo granite forms part of a small, but distinctive late intrusive suite of cordierite-bearing peraluminous granites in the South Portuguese Zone (SPZ). This granite has the best outcrop relationships of the suite. [...]

17 p, 2.4 MB Magnetic susceptibility of Variscan granite-types of the Spanish Central System and the redox state of magma / Villaseca González, Carlos (Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Departamento de Petrología y Geoquímica) ; Ruíz Martínez, Vicente Carlos (Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Departamento de Física de la Tierra y Astrofísica) ; Pérez-Soba Aguilar, Cecilia (Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Departamento de Petrología y Geoquímica)
Magnetic susceptibility (MS) has been measured in Variscan granites from central Spain. They yield values in the order of 15 to 180µSI units for S- and I-type granites, indicating that both types belong to the ilmenite series. [...]

18 p, 1.3 MB Tectonic significance of Late Precambrian calc-alkaline and alkaline magmatism in Saint Katherina Area, Southern Sinai, Egypt / Kamal Azer, Mokhles (National Research Centre (Egipte). Geology Department)
Two magmatic rock suites are distinguished in the Late Precambrian basement of the Southern Sinai (NW Arabian-Nubian Shield, Egypt), namely (a) a calc-alkaline suite, and (b) an alkaline suite. The former includes Rutig Volcanics, quartz-diorite, quartz-monzonite and monzogranite, while the latter includes Katherina Volcanics and A-type granites. [...]
