Locke was interested in liberating the idea of infinite of its metaphysical and theological implications typical of the Christian philosophical inheritance. Leibniz's vision is diametrically opposed: the infinite is a complex concept that needs rigorous distinctions, without which the human intellect becomes lost in a labyrinth.
