After a cautious round of minimum wage setting for 2021, nominal rates rose significantly for 2022 as the negative consequences of the pandemic eased and economies and labour markets improved. In this context, 20 of the 21 EU Member States with statutory minimum wages raised their rates. [...] If present inflation trends continue, minimum wages will barely grow at all in real terms in any country in 2022. Significant losses in the purchasing capacity of minimum wage earners are likely to dominate the picture, unless the issue is addressed by policy changes during the year. [...]

López-Roldán, Pedro (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Centre d'Estudis Sociològics sobre la Vida Quotidiana i el Treball (QUIT)) ;
Fachelli, Sandra (Universidad Pablo de Olavide. Departamento de Sociología)
The structuring of social inequalities in the Latin American labour market can be explained from a double perspective. First, in general, from the theory of labour market segmentation, where it is possible to differentiate mainly the hierarchical configuration of a primary and a secondary segment, resulting from different characterising factors that converge on both the demand and supply sides of the labour market. [...] Franco died in his bed on 20 November 1975. The dictatorship, however, had already been in its death throes for several years. The political changes that were consolidated by the moves towards a democratic system in 1977-78 had already occurred within civil society throughout the 1950s and 1960s, especially in Catalonia.
