12 p, 630.6 KB On the period function in a class of generalized Lotka-Volterra systems / Villadelprat Yagüe, Jordi (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtica Aplicada i Anàlisi)
In this note, motivated by the recent results of Wang et al. [Wang et al. , Local bifurcations of critical periods in a generalized 2D LV system, Appl. Math. Comput. 214 (2009) 17-25], we study the behaviour of the period function of the center at the point (1,1) of the planar differential system {u' = up(1−vq),v'= μvq(up−1), where p, q, μ ∈ R with pq > 0 and μ > 0. 26 p, 801.4 KB Integrability of a class of N-dimensional Lotka-Volterra and Kolmogorov systems / Llibre, Jaume (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques) ; Ramírez, Rafael Orlando (Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Departament d'Enginyeria Informàtica i Matemàtiques) ; Ramírez, Valentín (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
We study the integrability of an N-dimensional differential Kolmogorov systems of the form ̇xj=xj(aj+N∑k=1ajkxk)+xjΨ(x1,. . . ,xN), j= 1,. . . ,N, where aj, and ajk are constants for j,k = 1,. . . [...]

17 p, 1.1 MB Hybrid approaches for multiple-species stochastic reaction-diffusion models / Spill, Fabian (Boston University. Department of Mechanical Engineering) ; Guerrero, Pilar (University College London. Department of Mathematics) ; Alarcón Cor, Tomás (Centre de Recerca Matemàtica) ; Maini, Philip K. (University of Oxford. Wolfson Centre for Mathematical Biology) ; Byrne, Helen (University of Oxford. Wolfson Centre for Mathematical Biology)
Reaction-diffusion models are used to describe systems in fields as diverse as physics, chemistry, ecology and biology. The fundamental quantities in such models are individual entities such as atoms and molecules, bacteria, cells or animals, which move and/or react in a stochastic manner. [...]

21 p, 380.8 KB Global dynamics of a Lotka-Volterra model with two predators competing for one prey / Llibre, Jaume (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques) ; Xiao, Dongmei (Shanghai Jiao Tong University(China). Department of Mathematics)
In this paper we study the global dynamics of 3-dimensional predator prey Lotka-Volterra systems, which describes two predators competing for food or shared one resource. From theoretical analysis on all parameters of this system, we show that if the resource for prey is limited, then there exist some values of parameters such that two predators and one prey coexist and their population are asymptotic to steady states. [...]

23 p, 558.3 KB Integrability and global dynamics of the May-Leonard model / Blé, Gamaliel (UJAT(México). División Académica de Ciencias Básicas) ; Castellanos, Víctor (UJAT(México). División Académica de Ciencias Básicas) ; Llibre, Jaume (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques) ; Quilantán, Ingrid (UJAT(México). División Académica de Ciencias Básicas)
We study when the celebrated May-Leonard model in R3, describing the competition between three species and depending on two positive parameters a and b, is completely integrable; i. e. when a+b = 2 or a = b. [...]
