17 p, 1.9 MB Geochemistry of Khandadharpahar-Thakuranipahar metabasites from the western Singhbhum Craton, eastern India : implications for subduction-zone tectonics and mantle-wedge metasomatism / Rajanikanta Singh, Mutum (Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology)
The identification of new rock types in the volcano-sedimentary sequences of the Singhbhum Craton has attracted much attention in recent years. The present study deals on newly identified Nb-Enriched Basalts (NEB) from the Khandadharpahar-Kadakala-Thakuranipahar (KKT) section, western Singhbhum Craton, which is comparable in composition to basalts-basaltic andesites and calk-alkaline in character. 15 p, 2.1 MB Natrolitite, an unusual rock - Occurrence and petrographic and geochemical characteristics (Eastern Turkey) / Çiftçi, Emín (Nigde University. Department of Geological Engineering) ; Hogan, John P. (University of Missouri-Rolla. Department of Geology and Geophysics) ; Kolayli, Hasan (Karadeniz Technical University. Department of Geological Engineering) ; Çadirli, Emín (Nigde University. Department of Physics)
Very unusual rocks consisting of natrolite (>95 vol. %) ± pargasite (<5 vol. %) and rare albite (<1 vol. %) have been discovered in the Kop mountain range, eastern Turkey. We propose to call these rocks 'natrolitite' and 'pargasite natrolitite'. [...]

14 p, 2.7 MB Tourmaline 40Ar/39Ar chronology of tourmaline-rich rocks from Central Iberia dates the main Variscan deformation phases / Bea, Fernando (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Pesquera, A. (Universidad del País Vasco. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Montero, P. (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Torres-Ruiz, J. (Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología) ; Gil-Crespo, P. P. (Universidad del País Vasco. Departamento de Mineralogía y Petrología)
During crustal thickening, metapelites taken to depth release boron-bearing hydrothermal fluids because of progressive heating and dehydration. These fluids swiftly percolate upwards, especially if the crust is being actively deformed, to form tourmaline where the PT conditions and the chemical composition of the host-rock are favorable. [...]
