31 p, 7.0 MB Feeding habits of the Middle Triassic pseudosuchian Batrachotomus kupferzellensis from Germany and palaeoecological implications for archosaurs / Mujal, Eudald (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Foth, Christian (University of Fribourg. Department of Geosciences) ; Maxwell, Erin (Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Stuttgart) ; Seegis, Dieter (Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Stuttgart) ; Schoch, Rainer (Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Stuttgart)
Bite traces on fossil bones are key to deciphering feeding ecology and trophic interactions of vertebrate past ecosystems. However, similarities between traces produced by different carnivorous taxa with similar dentitions, and misidentifications due to equifinality, hinder confident identifications of the bite makers. [...]

8 p, 1.9 MB A "Mammalian-like" Pycnodont Fish : Independent Acquisition of Thecodont Implantation, True Vertical Replacement, and Carnassial Dentitions in Carnivorous Mammals and a Peculiar Group of Pycnodont Fish / Matsui, Kumiko (National Museum of Natural History. Department of Paleobiology) ; Kimura, Yuri (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont)
Vertebrates developed tooth replacement over 400 million years ago. Then, 200 million years later, the combination of vertical tooth replacement with the thecodont implantation (teeth in bone sockets) appeared a key morphological innovation in mammalian evolution. [...]

47 p, 1.3 MB Can Pallars i Llobateres : A new hominoid-bearing locality from the late Miocene of the Vallès-Penedès Basin (NE Iberian Peninsula) / Alba, David M.. (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Casanovas i Vilar, Isaac (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Furió Bruno, Marc (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; García-Paredes, Israel (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Angelone, Chiara (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Jovells-Vaqué, Sílvia (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Hernández Luján, Àngel (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Almécija, Sergio (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Moyà Solà, Salvador (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont)
In the Iberian Peninsula, Miocene apes (Hominoidea) are generally rare and mostly restricted to the Vallès-Penedès Basin. Here we report a new hominoid maxillary fragment with M2 from this basin. It was surface-collected in March 2017 from the site of Can Pallars i Llobateres (CPL, Sant Quirze del Vallès), where fossil apes had not been previously recorded. [...]

13 p, 3.0 MB Determining the ontogenetic variation of lower cheek teeth occlusal surface patterns in lagomorphs using micro ct-technology / Angelone, Chiara (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Schultz, Julia A. (Universität Bonn. Steinmann-Institut für Geologie, Mineralogie und Paläontologie) ; Erbajeva, Margarita A. (Russian Academy of Sciences. Geological Institute, Siberian Branch)
Micro CT-scanning has been performed on the lower jaws of some selected lagomorph taxa in order to reconstruct unequivocally their controversial ontogenetic development. The analyses were concentrated on the development of p3, and on the sequences of lobe connections and on the sequence of appearance/disappearance of flexids/fossettes of p4-m2. [...]

Departament de Geologia) ; Bolet, Arnau (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont)
This paper discusses the taxonomic affinities of three isolated teeth discovered in the Buntsandstein facies of the Catalan Coastal Ranges and central-eastern Pyrenean basins that crop out in Catalonia, north-eastern Spain. [...]

5 p, 158.4 KB On the identity of a hominoid male upper canine from the Vallès-Penedès Basin figured by Pickford (2012) / Alba, David M.. (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Moyà Solà, Salvador (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Biologia Animal, de Biologia Vegetal i d'Ecologia)
Pickford (2012) inadvertently figured-with an incorrect catalogue number-an unpublished male upper canine of a hominoid primate from the Vallès-Penedès Basin (without specifying its locality of provenance), and attributed it to the Late Miocene fossil great ape Hispanopithecus laietanus. [...]

Facultat d'Odontologia) ; Garcia-Guixé, Elena (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Centre d'Estudis del Patrimoni Arqueològic de la Prehistòria)
