13 p, 1.3 MB Clay mineralogy across the P-T boundary of the Xiakou section, China : Evidence of clay provenance and environment / Hong, Hanlie (China University of Geosciences. Faculty of Earth Sciences) ; Zhang, Ning (China University of Geosciences. Faculty of Earth Sciences) ; Zhaohui, Li (National Cheng Kung University. Department of Earth Sciences) ; Xue, Huijuang (China University of Geosciences. Faculty of Earth Sciences) ; Xia, Wenchen (China University of Geosciences. Faculty of Earth Sciences) ; Yu, Na (China University of Geosciences. Faculty of Earth Sciences)
The provenance of clays in shaley intervals across the Permian-Triassic boundary (PTB) in the Xiakou section was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the results suggest that the layers have three different provenances. 12 p, 1.2 MB Volcanism in association with the prelude to mass extinction and environment change across the permian-triassic boundary (PTB), Southern China / Hong, Hanlie (China University of Geosciences. State Key Laboratory of Geological Process and Mineral Resources) ; Xie, Shucheng (China University of Geosciences. State Key Laboratory of Geological Process and Mineral Resources) ; Lai, Xulong (China University of Geosciences. State Key Laboratory of Geological Process and Mineral Resources)
In order to better understand the provenance of the sediments and environmental change associated with the Permian-Triassic (P/T) biotic crisis, a comparative clay mineralogical study of the Permian-Triassic boundary (PTB) sediments between the Meishan section (the Global Stratotype Section and Point of the PTB) and the Xiakou section, southern China, was undertaken using X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). [...]

20 p, 5.5 MB Petrogenesis of Miocene volcanic arc rocks over the Chilean-Pampean flat-slab segment of the Central Andes constrained by mineral chemistry / Litvak, V. D. (Instituto de Estudios Andinos Don Pablo Groeber (Buenos Aires, Argentina)) ; Poma, S. (Instituto de Geociencias Básicas, Aplicadas y Ambientales de Buenos Aires (Argentina))
Miocene arc volcanism is manifested widely in the Valle del Cura-El Indio belt region (29°30'-30° South latitude), in the southern Central Andes of Argentina and Chile. The magmas that fed this volcanism are well represented by the Cerro de las Tórtolas Formation, which is divided into two volcanic episodes based on petrographic, chemical and age differences: an older basaltic-andesitic event (16-14Ma) and a younger andesitic to dacitic (13-10Ma) one.
