In 2002 Barcelona Television BTV began to broadcast weekly news programs with Occitan and Aranese information, which were carried out by the journalists and Occitanists Ferriol Macip and Manèl Zabala. These news programs were produced for eight years, specifically from 2 February 2013 to 29 July 2021 with a total of 378 programs. Infòc and Aranòc programs about current events in the Val d'Aran were grouped together under the title Aranésòc. They covered all the topics of Aranese current affairs: political, cultural, historical, festivals and traditions, press, etc. The inhabitants of the Aranese villages often participated in the reports, explaining the traditions and customs from years ago. They were fully broadcast in the Aranese language with subtitles in Catalan. They were co-produced by BTV and ADÒC (Association for the Diffusion of Occitania in Catalonia). A collaboration agreement has been signed thanks to the will and generosity of the two authors (Zabala and Macip) and BTV. The agreement allows this invaluable material to be available for consultation and research by scholars and Occitanists. |
