The Gendered Duality of Coldness in the Portrayals of Eliza Hayley
/
Blanch Serrat, Francesca (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
In the eighteenth century, coldness was defined, on the one hand, in relation to the body and the senses (a body that is lacking in heat) and on the other, to emotion (an individual lacking in passion). [...]

While disturbances are essential for biodiversity, their escalation driven by climate change may threaten forest ecosystems. Contrasting approaches to adapt forests to disturbances-intensifying management versus encouraging natural succession towards more mature ecosystems-have sparked a debate about whether protection influences forests' vulnerability to disturbance.
/
Álvaro, Sandra (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Art i de Musicologia)
[...] Urban expansion is an important factor leading to the unbecoming that we call Anthropo-cene. The urbanization has articulated the relationship between citizens, technology, and nature in different ways, from considering nature as a model for the rational design of the inhabited space by the first thinkers of urban planning, to the discovery of the generative capacity of diversity in the 1970s and the current proposal of an interspecific city.
