This paper presents a single-frequency reflective-mode phase-variation microwave sensor devoted to the dielectric characterization of materials. The device is implemented in coplanar waveguide (CPW) technology and consists of two parts: (i) the sensing region, a step-impedance resonator (SIR) as termination of a CPW transmission line, and (ii) the design region, a cascade of high/low impedance quarter-wavelength inverters, used to boost up the sensitivity. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica) ; Martín, Ferran (Martín Antolín) (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica)
In this paper, we report two different strategies to enhance the data density in electromagnetic encoders with synchronous reading. One approach uses a periodic chain of rectangular metallic patches (clock chain) that determines the encoder velocity, and dictates the instants of time for retrieving the bits of the identification (ID) code. Frequency-variation sensors for permittivity measurements based on dumbbell-shaped defect ground structures (DB-DGS) : Analytical method and sensitivity analysis / Muñoz Enano, Jonathan (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica) ; Vélez Rasero, Paris (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica) ; Gil Barba, Marta (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) ; Martín, Ferran (Martín Antolín) (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica)
It is shown in this paper that a microstrip line loaded with a dumbbell-shaped defect ground structure (DB-DGS) is useful for complex permittivity measurements. The working principle of the sensor is the variation in the notch (resonance) frequency and depth caused by the material under test (MUT), when it is put in contact with the sensitive region of the device, i. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica)
In this letter, a novel near-field chipless-Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system with sequential bit reading is reported. The main novelty concerns the tags, implemented by means of straight half-wavelength resonators separated by a small distance and forming a linear chain in the direction orthogonal to their axis.
