Grup d’Electroquímica, Fotoquímica i Reactivitat Orgànica (GEFRO)

Al Grup d’Electroquímica, Fotoquímica i Reactivitat Orgànica (GEFRO) del Departament de Química de la UAB tenim com a objectiu l’estudi i el desenvolupament de nous processos i materials mitjançant l’ús de tecnologies foto- i electroquímiques. Aprofitant el caràcter multidisciplinari del nostre equip, els tipus de processos i materials que investiguem són diversos i abasten des de l’electrosíntesi de compostos orgànics i l’electroactivació de CO2, a la síntesi i el processat sostenibles de polímers, i a la preparació i caracterització de molècules i (nano)materials intel·ligents. Per a dur a terme aquesta recerca disposem tant de finançament públic com privat, així com d’un ventall variat de mitjans materials i infraestructures.

Functionalization of gold nanoparticles with supramolecular hosts allows their plasmon-based photocatalytic activity to be enhanced. This is mainly ascribed to the formation of labile host-guest complexes with the reagent molecules on the metal surface, thus promoting nanoparticle-substrate approximation without interfering with the light-induced catalytic process.
