This paper presents trends in parental wealth homogamy across union cohorts formed between 1987 and 2013 in Denmark. Using high-quality register data on the wealth of parents during the year of union formation, we show that the correlation between partners' levels of parental wealth is considerably lower compared to estimates from earlier research on other contexts. Using data from the UN World Population Prospects, we document global trends in lifespan inequality from 1950 until 2015. Our findings indicate that (i) there has been a sustained decline in overall lifespan inequality, (ii) adult lifespan variability has also declined, but some plateaus and trend reversals have been identified, (iii) lifespan inequality among the elderly has increased virtually everywhere, (iv) most of the world variability in age-at-death can be attributed within-country variability. The Human Development Index is the world's most famous indicator of the level of development of societies. A disadvantage of this index is however, that only national values are available, whereas within many countries huge subnational variation exists in income, health and education. [...]

In a search for determinants of societal levels of income inequality, scholars have suggested that homogamy within marriages and cohabiting relationships is a potentially important driver of inequality. [...]
In a second stage of the analysis we examine why changes in educational assortative mating mattered relatively little for changes in income inequality. A major hypothesis proposed in earlier research is that changes in educational homogamy have not been large enough to affect income inequality. [...]

In this paper, we address the question to what extent the subjective well-being of same sex couples changed following the legalization of same-sex marriage in England and Wales in March 2014. We employ data from the Annual Population Survey to examine changes in several aspects of well-being during the period before and after legalization. [...]

This article aims to explore how overall education inequality is articulated in four basic constituent parts (inequality among women and men, inequality favoring men and inequality favoring women) and how these parts have jointly evolved over time in the world and its regions. [...]

5 p, 388.6 KB A new approach to length of life inequality measurement / Permanyer, Iñaki
The uncertainty around the limits of human lifespan has led researchers to implicitly treat that variable as unbounded. In this paper we categorize that variable as 'uncertainly bounded' and study the corresponding methodological and substantive implications for our understanding of lifespan variation. [...]
