Preprints
Compilation of documents that synthesize an original research about a concret topic in a study area with the aim of report on the state of the research. They help to discover new idees and concepts and to shape research lines specially in the social sciences and humanities areas. For example: the working papers of Mathematical Research Center.

25 p, 742.2 KB Stability results for a hierarchical size-structured population model with distributed delay / Hu, Dandan (China University of Geosciences) ; Farkas, József Z. (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Matemàtiques) ; Huang, Gang (China University of Geosciences)
In this paper we investigate a structured population model with distributed delay. Our model incorporates two different types of nonlinearities. Specifically we assume that individual growth and mortality are affected by scramble competition, while fertility is affected by contest competition. [...]

4 p, 258.5 KB Popper's test of quantum mechanics and two-photon "ghost" diffraction / Bramon Planas, Albert (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física) ; Escribano, Rafel (Institut de Física d'Altes Energies)
A test on quantum mechanics proposed long ago by Karl Popper is reconsidered with further detail and new insight. An ambiguity in the proposal, which turns out to be essential in order to make the test conclusive, is identified and taken into account for the first time. [...]

32 p, 1.1 MB Radiative corrections to the τ−→(P1P2)−ντ (P1,2=π,K) decays / Escribano, Rafel (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física) ; Miranda Hernández, Jesús Alejandro (Institut de Física d'Altes Energies) ; Roig, Pablo (Instituto Politécnico Nacional. Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados. Departamento de Física)
The radiative corrections to the τ−→(P1P2)−ντ (P1,2=π,K) decays are calculated for the first time. The structure-dependent contributions are obtained using Resonance Chiral Theory. Our results, whose uncertainty is dominated by the model-independent corrections, enable precise tests of CKM unitarity, lepton flavor universality, and non-standard interactions.

18 p, 1.0 MB A combined study of hadronic D+ → K−π+π+ and D+s → K+K+π− decays by means of the analysis of semileptonic D+ → K−π+l+νl decays / Escribano, Rafel (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física) ; Masjuan, Pere (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Física) ; Sánchez-Puertas, Pablo (Institut de Física d'Altes Energies)
We perform a combined study of the two hadronic decays D+→K−π+π+ and D+s→K+K+π− using a detailed analysis of the semileptonic decays D+→K−π+ℓ+νℓ (ℓ=e,μ) thanks to the high-statistics D+→K−π+e+νe dataset provided by the BESIII Collaboration. [...]

The timescale of electronic cooling is an important parameter controlling the performance of devices based on quantum materials for optoelectronic, thermoelectric and thermal management applications. [...]

Within Density Functional Theory, we have investigated the coalescence dynamics of two superfluid helium nanodroplets hosting vortex lines in different relative orientations, which are drawn towards each other by the Van der Waals mutual attraction. [...]

State-of-the-art fabrication and characterization techniques have been employed to measure the thermal conductivity of suspended, single-crystalline MoS2 and MoS2/hBN heterostructures. Two-laser Raman scattering thermometry was used combined with real time measurements of the absorbed laser power, which allowed us to determine the thermal conductivities without any assumptions.
