This article examines the dominant anthropocentric and speciesist worldview that shapes our society, a perspective that leads us to conceive and treat animals merely as instruments for our own ends. Subsequently, the article explores the connection between animal abuse and the ongoing ecological crisis, and offers arguments for rethinking the way we understand and treat animals. Finally, we propose that certain rights should be granted to them, with the specific content and scope of such rights varying according to species.
