La tesi doctoral porta a terme una descripció i una anàlisi del procés de gestació a finals dels anys setanta, el naixement els primers vuitanta i les transformacions de la televisió local a Catalunya fins a la tardor de 2005, moment en què s'implanta efectivament la Televisió Digital Terrestre (TDT) local al Principat.

Es tracta d'una aproximació a un procés complex que aporta, per primera vegada, una descripció completa de l'evolució de la televisió local des del seu naixement fins la implantació d'una nova tecnologia de transmissió del senyal televisiu, la TDT.

La tesi identifica i descriu quina són els canvis, quins actors els introdueixen i quins vectors guien la transformació de la televisió local catalana. Així mateix, l'estudi aporta elements interpretatius que permeten entendre com es produeixen aquests canvis, quins elements els fan possibles i, per tant, perquè es gesta, perquè neix i perquè evoluciona l'objecte d'estudi.

En aquest sentit, la tesi aporta nous elements, tant descriptius com interpretatius, sobre la televisió local respecte de la investigació precedent sobre el fenomen. La dimensió temporal de la recerca feta permet (re)situar en el context de l'evolució diferents moments i aspectes de l'objecte d'estudi que ja havien estat estudiats prèviament.

The doctoral thesis provides a description and analysis of the process of gestation at the late seventies, birth at the beginning of the eighties, and transformation of local television in Catalonia until the autumn 2005, when local Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) is implanted effectively in Catalonia.

The thesis approaches to a complex process and provides, for the first time, a complete description of the evolution of the local television since its birth until the establishment of a new broadcasting technology of the television signal, the DTT.

The thesis identifies and describes the changes occurred, what actors introduce them, and the vectors guiding the transformation of the local Catalan television. Likewise, the study provides interpretative elements allowing the understanding of these changes, the elements that made them possible and, therefore, why the object of study was gestated, born and evolved.

In this sense, the thesis provides new elements, descriptive as well as interpretative, about local television regarding previous research on the phenomenon. The temporal dimension of the research undertaken allows to (re)locate, within the context of its evolution, the different moments and aspects of the object of study that have been previously studied.
