Título variante: Rural idyll, the terms of the debate on migration to rural areas from the British geography and the Spanish contributions. : A state of the art
Fecha: 2008
Resumen: For a long time British geographers have been analyzed the migrations that, with origin in the main cities, goes towards the rural areas. This process was detected in the middle of the sixties from the pioneering studies of R. E. Pahl. The interest of British contributions not only falls to the socio-demographical analysis of this migration, but its contributions put of relief the complexity of the change processes in which is immersed the rural in Great Britain. Subjects like the gentrification of these spaces, the debate on the aging or rejuvenation that brings this migration, the conflicts that carries the reception of new population or the apearance of the term post-productive field, are only some examples of the ambition of these studies. The situation in Spain and in Catalonia is far to reach the amount and the depth of these studies. The growth of numerous rural municipalities has been detected but the attention has been concentrated primarily in putting of relief the magnitude of the phenomenon but leaving more to the margin the study of the causes and the consequences that this migration involves. Although a simple transposition of the British contributions to the Spanish case is neither recommendable nor apropriate - due to the great differences between the rural areas of both countries-, they provide suggestive ideas and subjects of discussion that can enrich the studies.
