| Resum: | The main objective of this translation class is to develop students' translation competence when translating specialised texts into a language that is not their mother tongue. Special emphasis is given to the process of documentation and the role of new technologies as a means to enhancing translation performance. Students are thus instructed on how to compile corpora and consult them using Antconc, and are required to translate their documents using computer-assisted translation tools, thus putting into practice translation-specific competences developed throughout their course of studies at the Faculty in language, translation, IT, and documentation classes. Students also learn to work as a team in huintign down vocabulary resources, etc. This semester, students will be working on texts from the Business, Legal & Medical areas. |
