Resum:	This paper provides an overview of a current research project on intelligent environments. The aim of intelligent environments is to study and develop new ways of moving beyond the dominant model of Graphical User Interface (GUI). To illustrate the key concepts, an artistic prototype, called Bodyarchitecture, is introduced. The paper explores three main technological domains: virtual reality, augmented reality and other projects such as ubiquitous computing and tangible bits.
