Additional title: Camp Betty : An Interesting Case for Semiotics of Cultures
Date: 2015
Abstract: This article examines two problems: the cultural definition of 'ugliness' –central theme of the television programme Betty la fea / ugly betty– and the ways in which a scripted format serial, is translated nowadays in different countries. In both cases, the aim of the analysis is to consider how each cultural context deeply shapes the meaning of a cultural artefact. I will focus mainly on the us series, but my study will also include some comparisons with the mexican, the spanish and the german versions.
