Resum:	El creepypasta conocido como The Backrooms («Los cuartos de atrás») surgió en Internet en mayo de 2019, y sigue ampliándose en distintas plataformas literarias y audiovisuales. Este trabajo propone un estudio comparativo entre el relato «La Biblioteca de Babel» (El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan, 1941), de Jorge Luis Borges, y la primera versión de The Backrooms. Desde el marco teórico de la poética cognitiva, y en particular desde la noción analítica de conceptual blending, se mostrará cómo los motivos elementales del laberinto y la biblioteca infinita se «combinan» en la nueva ficción popular, y cómo pasan de la memoria colectiva al relato autorial, y de este de nuevo al acervo colectivo de la creación en red.
Resum:	The creepypasta known as The Backrooms appeared for the first time on the Internet in May 2019 and has continued to develop in a variety of literary and multimedia creative websites until the present day. This article presents a comparative study of Jorge Luis Borges short story «La Biblioteca de Babel» and the first version of The Backrooms. The theoretical frame/background is that of Cognitive Poetics, and particularly the analytical notion of conceptual blending. From this perspective, this study aims to show how the elementary recurring motifs of the maze and the infinite library blend in the new popular fiction, and how they transition from collective memory to authorial narratives, and back again into the collective creative network of the web.
