Des de principis del segle xxi, una nova fornada d'estudis sobre la història del cooperativisme s'ha interessat per la influència d'aquest moviment d'emancipació en la configuració dels barris populars. Des d'una perspectiva urbana i microhistò- rica, la recerca sobre cooperatives i cooperativistes ha nodrit l'anàlisi de les relacions entre cooperativisme, obrerisme i associacionisme popular. L'estudi de la trajectòria de Celestí Ventura Raballí (1892-1969) en el sindicalisme i el cooperativisme, i la seva dedicació a la cooperativa La Fraternitat de la Barceloneta (Barcelona) per- met aprofundir en aquestes relacions de dues maneres. En primer lloc, examinant el rol de les cooperatives com a rereguarda del moviment obrer i, de forma més general, les mútues influències entre lluites obreres i expansió del cooperativisme. En segon lloc, i atenent a la participació de Ventura en les estructures sindicalistes, cooperativistes i mutualistes, explorant la multiplicitat de funcions que caracteritzà l'associacionisme obrerista a Catalunya durant bona part del segle xx. |

Desde principios del siglo xxi, una nueva hornada de estudios sobre la historia del cooperativismo se ha interesado por la influencia de este movimiento de emancipación en la configuración de los barrios populares. Desde una perspectiva urbana y microhistórica, la investigación sobre cooperativas y cooperativistas ha alimentado el análisis de las relaciones entre cooperativismo, obrerismo y asociacionismo popular. El estudio de la trayectoria de Celestí Ventura Raballí (1892-1969) en el sindicalismo y el cooperativismo, y su dedicación a la cooperativa La Fraternidad de la Barceloneta (Barcelona), permite profundizar en estas relaciones de dos maneras. En primer lugar, examinando el rol de las cooperativas como retaguardia del movimiento obrero y, de forma más general, las mutuas influencias entre luchas obreras y expansión del cooperativismo. En segundo lugar, y atendiendo a la participación de Ventura en las estructuras sindicalistas, cooperativistas y mutualistas, explorando la multiplicidad de funciones que caracterizó al asociacionismo obrerista en Cataluña durante buena parte del siglo xx. |

Since the beginning of the 21st century, a new batch of studies on the history of cooperative organizations has taken an interest in the influence of this emancipation movement on the shaping of working-class neighbourhoods. From an urban, micro-historic perspective, the research on cooperatives and their members has nourished the analysis of the relationship between the cooperative movement, the working-class movement and grass-roots associations. The study of the path pursued by Celestí Ventura Raballí (1892-1969) along syndicalism and cooperative movement, and his dedication to the cooperative La Fraternitat de la Barceloneta (Barcelona), allows us to deepen those relationships twofold: first of all, we can examine the role of the cooperatives as the rearguard of the working-class movement and, more generally, the reciprocal influences between the working-class struggle and the expansion of the cooperative movement; secondly, by considering the way Ventura took part in trade unions, cooperatives and mutual societies, we can explore the multiple functions of the working-class association movement in Catalonia for much of the 20th century. |
