This research studies the influence of the Heritage Foundation (HF) and the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), as ultraconservative think tanks, in the socio-economic and political landscape of the United States from 2016 to 2025 with a focus on Donald Trump's first mandate. The paper aims to take an interdisciplinary approach when analyzing from a historical, political and economic perspective primary and secondary sources. These sources include academic articles, research reports, political speeches, the digital footprint of the organizations, financial records from both organizations and Trump's political campaign as well as the examination of policy agendas and legislation. The analysis finds that both think tanks have shaped the public policy of the country during the time frame investigated. Areas such as trade, taxation, spending, immigration and environment have been influenced by the HF with their Mandate for Leadership, in which they provide conservative and neoliberal policy proposals. From the courts, the ADF has influenced the rights of sexual and gender minorities as well as reproductive rights in the name of religious freedom. Nonetheless, the impact of both organizations extends well beyond regulation. This paper also reports the effect of the HF and the ADF within the broader conservative movement, across political institutions, social media and even on a global scale. This study contributes to understanding political theories like Gramci and Foucault's on power and cultural homogeneity from an ongoing real-world event. Consequently, its main contribution lies in providing evidence of how alternative political actors affect the democratic system of the US and pursue a global reach. |

Esta investigación estudia la influencia de la Heritage Foundation (HF) y de la Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), como think tanks ultraconservadores, en el panorama socioeconómico y político de Estados Unidos desde 2016 hasta 2025, con un enfoque en el primer mandato de Donald Trump. El trabajo busca adoptar un enfoque interdisciplinar al analizar, desde una perspectiva histórica, política y ecnómica, fuentes primarias y secundarias. Estas fuentes incluyen artículos académicos, informes de investigación, discursos políticos, la huella digital de las organizaciones, registros financieros tanto de las organizaciones como de la campaña política de Trump, así como el examen de las agendas políticas y legislación. |
