Berlin y Kay (1991) investigaron noventa y ocho lenguas para estudiar la evolución de los términos básicos de color, así como también la regularidad y universalidad de la evolución entre distintas lenguas. Eligieron el español de México para su estudio. Sin embargo, su conclusión no ha sido aceptada por todos los investigadores. Por ejemplo, Mcneill (1972) critica que las siete etapas de evolución de los términos básicos de color que proponían Berlín y Kay no encajan en todas las lenguas. Basándonos en la hipótesis de Berlín y Kay, los estudios de Mcneill y de Luz Rello, como también con los diccionarios etimológicos de Joan Corominas, los corpus CORDE (corpus diacrónico del español) y CREA (corpus de referencia del español actual), proponemos los términos básicos de color en español, asimismo los posibles términos básicos de colores a lo largo de la historia y su evolución. Además del orden evolutivo universal en el lenguaje humano, el español tiene su propia particularidad en la evolución. |

Berlin and Kay (1991) have investigated ninety-eight languages to study the evolution of the basic color terms, as well as the regularity and universality of the evolution between different languages. They chose the Spanish of Mexico for their study. However, the conclusion has not been accepted by all researchers. For example, Mcneill (1972) criticizes that the seven stages of the evolution of the basic color terms proposed by Berlin and Kay do not fit in with all languages. Based on the hypothesis of Berlin and Kay, the studies of Mcneill and Luz Rello, as well as the etymological dictionaries of Joan Corominas, the corpus CORDE and CREA, we propose the basic color terms in Spanish, as well as the basic color terms used in history and their evolution. In addition to the universal evolutionary order in human language, Spanish has its own particularity in evolution. |
