26 p, 551.6 KB On the separatrix graph of a rational vector field on the Riemann sphere / Dias, Kealey (Bronx Community College of the City University of New York (USA)) ; Garijo, Antoni (Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Departament d'Enginyeria Informàtica i Matemàtiques)
We consider the rational flow ξR(z) = R(z)(d/dz) where R is given by the quotient of two polynomials without common factors on the Riemann sphere. The separatrix graph ΓR is the boundary between trajectories with different properties. [...]

Lineage information is the part of the metadata that describes "what", "when", "who", "how", and "where" geospatial data were generated. If it is well-presented and queryable, lineage becomes very useful information for inferring data quality, tracing error sources and increasing trust in geospatial information. [...]

2 p, 86.4 KB Distilling Structure from Imagery : Graph-based Models for the Interpretation of Document Images / Riba, Pau
From its early stages, the community of Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision has considered the importance of leveraging the structural information when understanding images. Usually, graphs have been proposed as a suitable model to represent this kind of information due to their flexibility and representational power able to codify both, the components, objects, or entities and their pairwise relationship. [...]

14 p, 412.2 KB Topological classification of polynomial complex differential equations with all the critical points of centre type / Álvarez Torres, María Jesús (Universitat de les Illes Balears. Departament de Ciències Matemàtiques i Informàtica)
In this paper we study the global phase portrait of complex polynomial differential equations of degree n of the form z˙ = f(z), having all their critical points of center type. We give the exact number of topologically different phase portraits on the Poincaré disk when n ≤ 6 and, in the remaining cases, an upper bound for this number which only depends on n.

Let G be a graph and f be a continuous self-map on G. We present new and known results (from another point of view) on the periods of the periodic orbits of f using mainly the action of f on its homology, or the shape of the graph G.

Department of Mathematics) ; Vilches Alarcón, José Antonio (Universidad de Sevilla. Departamento de Geometría y Topología)
The simplicial LS-category of a finite abstract simplicial complex is a new invariant of the strong homotopy type, defined in purely combinatorial terms. We prove that it generalizes to arbitrary simplicial complexes the well known notion of arboricity of a graph, and that it allows to develop many notions and results of algebraic topology which are costumary in the classical theory of Lusternik-Schnirelmann category. The Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of Hecke-Kiselman algebras defined by oriented graphs is studied. It is shown that the dimension is infinite if and only if the underlying graph contains two cycles connected by an (oriented) path. [...]
