Aquest article tracta algunes de les dificultats que els estudiants poden trobar-se en la lectura d'imatges científiques. L'article analitza breument tres imatges molt corrents (un espectre electromagnètic, una òrbita terrestre i una representació molecular d'un sòlid) i a cadascuna d'aquestes imatges s'identifica un element problemàtic: un element visual que pot fomentar interpretacions i comprensions incorrectes.
