A singular case in Music History Max Brod had the opportunity, as the German translator of Janáček's operas, to work in close collaboration with the composer. Up until Aida (1871), the Italian melodrama language presents very specific characters, including a highly codified and repetitive linguistic patterns. Such codified language stems from the Italian poetical tradition, whose main features are the absence of realism and its stately tone. [...]
