[...] John Scottus Eriugena assumes and reinterprets the Neoplatonic scheme mone-proodosepistrophe. In this sense, the last moment, the reditus, is understood in terms of apokatastasis, namely, the return of everything created to the Creator, so that God will be all in all. [...]

Even nowadays, thirteenth-century Parisian Averroism is difficult to define. Since this is the case, my aim here is to provide a better definition of it. In order to do so, I will discuss whether we can properly talk about Averroism in the thirteenth century as a philosophical movement and what is the key feature that makes of these thinkers, mainly Boethius of Dacia and Siger of Brabant, Averroists or not.

On the Relation between Natural Philosophy, Mathematics and Logic in the Investigation on Atomism in the Middle Ages

In the first half of the fourteenth century, a great polemic surrounding atomistic conceptions arose at the University of Oxford and the University of Paris. Teoría medieval del símbolo
/
[...] The medieval iconic tradition constitutes a privileged place to trace and determine, historically and speculatively, the fruitful links between aesthetic experience and Christian theology. Presented as a symbol of incarnation and a window into the absolute, the icon reaches in the Middle Ages a status superior to art because, on the one hand, it can make visible the invisible to a greater degree than any other artistic form and on the other it constitutes, for the believer, an effective means of salvation, even possessing in the context of the Orthodox Church a sacramental status.

/
Cuscó i Clarasó, Joan, 1971- (Universitat de Barcelona)
[...] Ramon Llull was the most outstanding thinker in Catalan medieval culture. He studied and renewed all the sciences because he wanted to build a new cosmovision and a new spirituality. In this project we will see that music and love are both related, and both share a key role (like Pythagoras' and Plato's theories). [...]

The Communication between Substances and the Unity of the Human Being in Petrus Hispanus' Commentary on the De anima
/
López Alcalde, Celia (Universidade do Porto)
This paper aims to describe the development of the doctrine of the plurality of substantial forms in the Sententia cum questionibus in libros I, II de anima Aristotelis, attributed to Petrus Hispanus, and to emphasize the importance of the concept of "communication", which is used by this and other authors of the 13th century.
