18 p, 4.5 MB Architectural characterization of a delta-front reservoir analogue combining Ground Penetrating Radar and Electrical Resistivity Tomography : Roda Sandstone (Lower Eocene, Graus-Tremp basin, Spain) / Coll, Miquel (Universitat de Barcelona. Institut de Recerca Geomodels) ; López-Blanco, M. (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament d'Estratigrafia, Paleontologia i Geociències Marines) ; Queralt, Pilar (Universitat de Barcelona. Institut de Recerca Geomodels) ; Universitat de Barcelona. Facultat de Geologia
Three-dimensional reconstruction of reservoir analogues can be improved combining data from different geophysical methods. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) data are valuable tools, since they provide subsurface information from internal architecture and facies distribution of sedimentary rock bodies, enabling the upgrading of depositional models and heterogeneity reconstruction. 14 p, 2.1 MB An accurate record of volcanic ash fall deposition as characterized by dispersed organic matter in a Lower Permian tonstein bed (Faxinal Coalfield, Paraná Basin, Brazil) / Simas, M. W. (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Instituto de Geociências) ; Guerra-Sommer, M. (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)) ; Mendonça, J. G. ; Cazzulo-Klepzig, Filho M. (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Instituto de Geociências) ; Formoso, M. L. L. (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Instituto de Geociências) ; Degani-Schmidt, I. (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Instituto de Geociências)
For the first time, the dispersed organic matter in the tonstein layer interbedded with a coal seam in the Faxinal Coalfield (Sakmarian, Southern Paraná Basin, Brazil) is characterized. The deposition of clusters of pollen grains was highly influenced by the intense ash fall process that probably occurred during seasonal dehiscence of reproductive structures. [...]

Interactions between intersecting faults cause local perturbations of the stress field in the vicinity of their intersections. Fault intersections are places of stress accumulation, stress relief and refraction of the stress trajectories; the slip vectors near these intersections are deviated from the maximum shear stress resolved by the far-field stress.
