15 p, 1.3 MB The Early to Middle Ordovician graptolite faunal succession of the Trail Creek region, central Idaho, U.S.A / Maletz, J. (State University of New York at Buffalo. Department of Geology) ; Goldman, D. (University of Dayton. Department of Geological Sciences) ; Cone, M. (State University of New York at Buffalo. Department of Geology)
The Middle Ordovician graptolite biostratigraphy of the Trail Creek region of Idaho is reviewed and revised. The oldest known fauna belongs to the Didymograptellus bifidus Biozone. The Isograptus victoriae lunatus, I. [...]

Universidad Nacional de San Juan) ; Beresi, M. S (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Argentina)) ; Peralta, S. (CONICET. Universidad Nacional de San Juan)
The Las Chacritas Fm in the type section in the Sierra de La Trampa, Central Precordillera (San Juan Province) was deposited in an outer carbonate ramp setting that evolved from relatively deep to shallow water. [...]

11 p, 1.5 MB Moulting in Ordovician dalmanitoid and acastoid trilobites of the Prague Basin. Preliminary observation / Budil, P. (Czech Geological Survey) ; Bruthansová, J. (National Museum. Palaeontological Department)
A review of the supposed moulting positions of the Bohemian Ordovician dalmanitoid and acastoid trilobites is presented. Five main moulting positions are described, but some combinations of these are also widespread. [...]

17 p, 1.2 MB Tremadocian Graptolite-Conodont Biostratigraphy of the South American Gondwana margin (Eastern Cordillera, NW Argentina) / Ortega, Gladys del Carmen (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales) ; Albanesi, G. L., (Guillermo L.) (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales) ; Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (Argentina). Museo de Paleontología ; Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales
The Tremadocian graptolite and conodont faunas of the Gondwana Margin recorded at the Eastern Cordillera (EC) of Salta and Jujuy provinces (northwestern Argentina) are studied. The previous data and the new provided information indicate that a "no nominated interval" and several graptolite zones (Anisograptus matanensis, Rhabdinopora flabelliformis anglica, Bryograptus, Kiaerograptus, Kiaerograptus supremus, Araneograptus murrayi, and Hunnegraptus copiosus zones), as well as several conodont zones (Iapetognathus, Cordylodus angulatus, Paltodus deltifer, and Acodus deltatus - Paroistodus proteus zones) occur in the Ordovician successions studied. [...]

22 p, 2.1 MB The Early Paleozoic history of the Cuyania (greater Precordillera) terrane of western Argentina : evidence from geochronology of detrital zircons from Middle Cambrian sandstones / Finney, S. (California State University at Long Beach. Department of Geological Sciences) ; Peralta, S. (CONICET. Universidad Nacional de San Juan) ; Gehrels, G. (University of Arizona. Department of Geosciences) ; Marsaglia, K. (California State University at Northridge. Department of Geological Sciences)
U-Pb geochronology of large detrital zircons populations is a powerful tool for interpreting sandstone provenance. Here, it is applied to three Middle Cambrian sandstones from the Precordillera of Argentina with the purpose of using the provenance interpretations to test paleogeographic and paleotectonic models proposed for the Cuyania or Precordillera terrane. [...]

The systematic analysis of conodonts from the previously unstudied Mithaka Formation (Georgina Basin) yielded 1366 identifiable elements, representing 25 species and 21 genera. One new species was recovered and identified, Triangulodus mithakensis n. [...]

8 p, 1.4 MB Global Series and Stages for the Ordovician System : a Progress Report / Finney, S. (California State University at Long Beach. Department of Geological Sciences)
There is no global standard set of chronostratigraphic/geochronologic subdivisions for the Ordovician System/Period. British series/epochs are often used as de facto nomenclature on stratigraphic correlation charts and geologic time scales. [...]
