In the context of graphene-based composite applications, a complete understanding of charge conduction in multilayer reduced graphene oxides (rGO) is highly desirable. However, these rGO compounds are characterized by multiple and different sources of disorder depending on the chemical method used for their synthesis. [...]

10 p, 3.9 MB Universal Spin Diffusion Length in Polycrystalline Graphene / Cummings, Aron (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Dubois, Simon M. M. (Université Catholique de Louvain) ; Charlier, Jean Christophe (Université Catholique de Louvain) ; Roche, Stephan (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia)
Graphene grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is the most promising material for industrial-scale applications based on graphene monolayers. It also holds promise for spintronics; despite being polycrystalline, spin transport in CVD graphene has been measured over lengths up to 30 μm, which is on par with the best measurements made in single-crystal graphene. In this review we discuss the multifaceted problem of spin transport in hydrogenated graphene from a theoretical perspective. The current experimental findings suggest that hydrogenation can either increase or decrease spin lifetimes, which calls for clarification. [...]

8 p, 505.6 KB Quantum transport in chemically functionalized graphene at high magnetic field : Defect-induced critical states and breakdown of electron-hole symmetry / Leconte, Nicolas (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Ortmann, Frank (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Cresti, Alessandro (Université Grenoble Alpes) ; Charlier, Jean Christophe (Université Catholique de Louvain. Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences) ; Roche, Stephan (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia)
Unconventional magnetotransport fingerprints in the quantum Hall regime (with applied magnetic fields from one to several tens of Tesla) in chemically functionalized graphene are reported. Upon chemical adsorption of monoatomic oxygen (from 0. [...]

14 p, 2.3 MB Velocity renormalization and Dirac cone multiplication ind graphene superlattices with various barrier-edge geometries / De Jamblinne de Meux, Albert (Université Catholique de Louvain. Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences) ; Leconte, Nicolas (Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia) ; Charlier, Jean Christophe (Université Catholique de Louvain. Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences) ; Lherbier, Aurélien (Université Catholique de Louvain. Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences)
The electronic properties of one-dimensional graphene superlattices strongly depend on the atomic size and orientation of the 1D external periodic potential. Using a tight-binding approach, we show that the armchair and zigzag directions in these superlattices have a different impact on the renormalization of the anisotropic velocity of the charge carriers.
