Cavallers refinats i grangers cavallerosos : sobre la traducció d'una discussió moral a Emma, de Jane Austen / Dedeu Surribas, Alba
Un aspecte molt interessant de l'Emma de Jane Austen són les discussions que s'hi troben entre els dos personatges principals respecte a la noció del gentleman. En aquest article es detalla el procés de la traductora per traduir uns quants termes problemàtics en una d'aquestes discussions, que es va basar en l'anàlisi de les posicions morals de cada personatge i les seves discrepàncies sobre el "cavaller ideal", per mirar de reproduir acuradament aquests matisos en la traducció.
A very interesting aspect in Jane Austen's Emma are the discussions that take place between the two main characters concerning the notion of 'gentleman'. This article describes the process used by the translator to translate several problematic terms in one of these discussions, which was based on the analysis of the moral positions of each character and their diverging views on the 'ideal gentleman', in order to try to accurately reproduce these shades of meaning in the translation.
